教育科研是学校可持续发展的原动力,我校坚持“科研先导”的基本理念，通过校本化的研究,不断更新教学观念,反思教学行为,提高学术水平,从而使教科研成为无锡市一中“轻负担，高质量”办学特色的重要支撑之一。学校的课题研究硕果累累，《信息化环境中学生的协作学习和探究能力培养》等课题曾获全国优秀“十五”重点课题，《校园网资源库建构模式研究》获得华东地区评比一等奖；翻开中学各专业核心期刊，我校教师的论文赫然在目，在省市组织的教育教学论文评比中，我校教师频频获奖。2004年以来，我校教师在国家级刊物上发表论文200余篇，出版著作近100部，有150多人次在各级各类论文比赛中获得一、二、三等奖。学校的主题教研活动、科研成果报告会、学术沙龙等活动搞得有声有色……无锡市一中这所百年老校正在焕发出新的活力。
    The scientific research in education is the driving force of sustainable development of our school. We persist that the principal strategy of scientific research takes the lead. By means of the individualized school-course research, we keep on updating the teaching conception and reconsidering the instruction actions to improve the academic level and make the scientific research an important support to the school feature of Light Burden and High Quality. A great many significant achievements have been acquired: Cultivation of Students Cooperative Learning and Researching Ability in Informatization Environment has achieved National Excellent "15" Key Attack Topic; Research on School Network Resource Pool Construction won the first prize in East China Area; there are a great many disquisitions of our teachers in varied core periodicals intended for high schools; our teachers has been frequently awarded prizes in the civic and provincial evaluation and competition of educational disquisition. Since 2004, our school has published over 200 disquisitions in national periodicals; almost 100 books have been released; around 150 teachers has been awarded the first, second and third prizes in all kinds of disquisition competitions. There are lots of thematic instruction and research activities, scientific research report meetings, and academic salons, etc, in our school. Wuxi No.1 Senior High School, the centennial celebrated high school, is blooming in the new century.
